how do you get into the cemetery? is the gate locked or open to public till now?

      Hi zmdh,
When I was at the cemetery, the gate wasn’t locked. It should still be open to the public. Do visit soon. The site is earmarked for redevelopment (residential) in the future.

I see. Thank you for the info. Really useful for me as I have never visited my great grandmother who was buried there. Any interesting things to note? Graveyards of any iconic personality?

So far, I’ve not been able to find much information about Kubur Kassim online or in the library. Most of them refer to (pseudo-)supernatural occurrences. Do let me know if you find any. What may also be of interest to you is the Tok Lasam Keramat or tombstones along Upper East Coast Road, next to the Siglap Linear Park, in the open field to the east of Jalan Sempadan. Tok Lasam was reputedly the Malay chief of Kampung Siglap.

I have heard of Tok Lasam and seen his keramat too! Pretty interesting. I wonder who takes care of the keramats. And, is there any caretaker that you saw at Kubur Kassim? I have heard of other graveyards too around the area, but I’m not sure if they’re already developed into residential areas.

Yes, there was a caretaker at Kubur Kassim. But I didn’t approach him while I was there. I hope to do so soon.
I guess they have already been cleared. Perhaps small plots of graveyards left. None that are as large as Kubur Kassim in Siglap, I suppose.

So we are doing a history project on historical places and was wondering if this place is stil present to this day and if so how do i access it? Thnkx

      Hi pranup,
I last visited the cemetery a year ago. I have not read from the media or heard from anyone that the cemetery is going to be removed soon. So, I presume it should still be there and open to public access.
The cemetery is located along Siglap Road. SBStransit bus No.40 will get you there. It is located right next to an under-construction condominium named Flamingo Valley.
